New Stuff

Well, we haven't done one of these in a while, but 'tis the season and all that, yes?

First up, Eric of Your Status is Annoying designed this fabulous Wreckporter badge:

Official Wreckporter Badge shirt

Which looks oh-so-cute on this ringer tee:

Next, we had a few of you submit Poo-dolph designs, but we went with Jennifer's of EyeAmCre8ive 'cuz I like the word art:

Click on the pics to see the designs in Zazzle, where you can also change the shirt styles, colors, etc. Heck, you can even buy one there - how crazy is that?

And finally, I guess it's high time I officially announce that we added a Stuff page, where you can get yourself one of these babies:

Only a few left, so act fast if you want one before Christmas. (We're working to make another batch, but these things take forever! Plus the babies are back-ordered. Grr.)

UPDATE: Sorry, guys, the jockeys are sold out right now. I'll let you know when we have a fresh batch made up - which will hopefully be in a few days.

Or a personalized bookplate for your copy of Cake Wrecks:

The necklaces are $15 and the plates are $5, shipping included in the U.S. (International, add $1.) Go to the Stuff page if you'd like to order.

"World" Tour Final Countdown

To commemorate the upcoming book tour (only one week away!) John and I convinced our good friend Ray Lau to design us a nifty little logo. Check it out:

Fun, huh? Or creepy/cute, depending on how you look at it. Be sure to check out Ray's site if you're in the market for a graphic designer.

Since a few of you Tweeting Twits asked for it, I've made the logo available on a shirt (both for men and for women) and also a cute little tote on Zazzle for only $10.55. What's more, Zazzle is running a sale this week, so use the code "PIRATEDAYTEE" and you'll get $3 off every t-shirt you order. What a deal, right?

This will probably be my last tour-related update, so here are just a few tips for those of you planning to come see us.

1) If you haven't already, please RSVP - even if it's a "maybe." We want to make sure we have enough cake, books, and room for everyone. To RSVP, click on your city name in the sidebar on the right

2) If you're planning on buying a book at the store, or if you have a cupcake entry, please try to get there early. We have LOTS of fun stuff to pack into a short amount of time, not the least of which is my signing all of your books, so we don't want you to miss anything.

3) Make sure your cupcake is on a small plate or board of some kind, and that it has your name on it. Those of you who actually write "Your Name" on it will get laughs, but no credit. ;) That matters, because the top three cupcakes will win fabulous prizes. Fabulous, I say!

Oh, and I nearly forgot: I just learned that we still need bakeries to provide the cake in San Francisco and in Dallas. If you're a professional baker in one of those cities, and you'd like to show off your skills and get a little free advertising at the same time, please e-mail me!

And that's it! I can't tell you how excited I am to meet so many of you soon. Come ready to party! Those of you in NY and Bethesda will have the added honor of meeting my Wrecksistant, Anne-Marie, who also happens to be John's sister. Believe me, this is gonna be good.

One Upside to the Economic Downturn...

Is that otherwise unengaged graphic designers have plenty of free time to make Cake Wrecks t-shirts.

Yep, yep, yep. Who says everyone's suffering "in this economy"? I'm making out like an extremely fashionable bandit over here! Check out what the infinitely talented Kate Citrin gifted me with this week:

Awesome, huh? And since I'm such a giver, I've arranged for these lovelies to be available to you commoner Wreckies as well. Just click on the photos to be taken to the appropriate Zazzle page. Oh, and be sure to give lots o' love to Kate, too; I'm sure she'll find working for your praise and virtual high-fives far more satisfying than those pedestrian money-making gigs.

Apron Sale & New Wreckwear

It's always fun seeing what you guys come up with for new shirt designs, and since Zazzle is running a huge sale this weekend I figured I better post these new ones pronto.

First, check out the poo-surfin' hot dog Gwen B. of The Brown Brush art studio designed:
As with all the truly bizarre, sure-to-confuse-everyone-but-fellow-Wreckies designs, I love it.

Here it is on a shirt:

And it's also available on an apron.

For those of you who enjoyed the Dilbert-inspired Wreck from last week, Becki of WhimzyGirlz designed this little number:

Which also looks good in brown for the guys.

Through Sunday Zazzle is offering 25% off all aprons, and 10% off all t-shirts. That's the best discount I've ever seen them offer for aprons, so if you've been thinking about getting one, now's the time. Here are all the apron designs I currently have for Wrecks, but if there's a design you'd like me to add just let me know.

And as always, send your CW shirt designs to comments [at] cake wrecks [dot] com! If I post it, I'll give you a shout-out and link to your site both on Zazzle and here on Wrecks.

Hope you're all enjoying your holiday weekend! Wreck on!

By Popular Demand: More Wreckwear!

Because I love you guys, and you asked for it:

Here's the back:
And while I'm at it, check out this hilarious little number Erin Lusk of The Cupcake Attitude whipped up:

Ah, it doesn't get any better than passive-aggressive baked goods. Be sure to check out Erin's site for more cute designs like this.

And naturally, I stuck it on a shirt:

I also added a new "I Want Sprinkles" design last week for myself:

(The site address is on the back.)

Which looks great on an apron:

And lastly, partly because I thought it was fun, and partly out of curiosity to see if anyone would actually ever purchase such a thing, I whipped up a Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockey tie:

If any of you actually buy and wear this thing, you must send me pictures. Seriously; that would just about make my day. ;)

You can click on any of the above pictures to go the corresponding Zazzle page, where you can tinker with colors and shirt styles to your heart's content. You could even buy the item in question, but I know that's just crazy talk, so I'll stop now.

If you have a design you'd like to see on a Cake Wrecks shirt, e-mail me! If I use it, I'll give you a shout-out here on the blog and link to your blog or website both here and on Zazzle.

Shirking my Shirtly Duties

I know, I know: it's been forever since I posted a new shirt design. And obviously you all are just wasting away from a lack of proper Wreckwear selection. Sorry. I've been writing Cake Wrecks the book, and with a mid-April deadline it's all I can do to keep the daily posts coming some days. (Excuses, excuses...)

Well anyway, here's a quickie for ya. After the surprising popularity of the Sailor Blobs yesterday, I whipped up this little number:

Which I think is pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself. It also looks great on a white t-shirt, which you can see here, or on yellow or lime*.

I posted the design here and not the shirt view because the text is hard to see clearly over on Zazzle. Check the store for other goodies, and let me know if you'd like to see something there that isn't.

And as always, if you have a Cake Wrecks shirt design you want me to feature, e-mail it to me! If I use it, I'll link to your store or site both on Zazzle and here on the blog.

Thanks, all! Wreck on!

*As with everything on Zazzle, you can change the shirt's color and style by clicking "select a different shirt style" in the upper right-hand corner of the product page.

New Tees!

Inspired by my Dino-Mite post, Tara Cox of Flying Penguin Artworks made me a fantastic "Cake Rex" illustration. I liked it so much that I asked her if I could share it with all of you on a t-shirt, and she graciously agreed. Check it out:

Cake Rex! shirt

This next one is the work of Maree Adams of Work at Home Designs. Maree is a hugely talented and extremely patient individual, as she's been working with me on this illustration since well before we even began offering shirts here on Wrecks:
At one time I was thinking of making this guy the site's logo. That's still up in the air for now, but in the mean time I really wanted to share Maree's work with all of you. So, naturally, I stuck it on a shirt:
Cute Carrot Jockey shirt

Like all shirts on Zazzle, you can get these in men's or kids' styles as well as the women's ones shown. You can also customize colors and even the graphic's size. Check out the other styles available in the Cake Wrecks Zazzle store here.

And as always, send me your shirt graphics! If I use them I'll link to your store or site here on the blog.

Buy Buy Buy

I've had some fun new shirt designs submitted from you oh-so-talented readers, and what better day to share the new arrivals than Black Friday? So c'mon, folks, before that bargain-crazed, triple-espresso high wears off: buy, buy, buy! (And if you catch yourself singing the song later today, my work here will be done.)

First up, a hilariously cute design by Jen Privitera of Kitty Gogo:

If you don't get it, then shame on you, and check out this post. Be sure to visit Jen's site above for more crazy yet cute designs, too.

Phil DeJarnett of www.OverZealous.com came up with two great designs:

I think I'm going to offer the "underneat that" one on an apron as well as a shirt, if for no other reason than so I can order one. :)

Rebecca Bridge of Glitter Bubbles jewelry immortalized our most dangerous Wreck to date:

The thought of all the confused looks one would receive when wearing this shirt makes me ridiculously happy. Is that wrong?

And here's what I came up with in my "free" time:
It a Gril - Ladies shirt
Simple, classic, and also available as a baby's onesie. What more could you ask for? (Don't answer that. It was rhetorical.)

Click on any of the designs above to go to the Zazzle store. Also, FYI: all the shirts are available in both men's and women's styles: just click "select a different shirt style" on the product description page. Most of them are also available as magnets. Plus, right now Zazzle is offering free shipping on all orders over $45, so be sure to stock up!

Have a great shirt/magnet/bumper sticker idea? E-mail me!

Just in Time for the Holidays

It's been a long time coming, but the day has finally arrived: that's right, Wrecks fans, you can now purchase your very own Cake Wrecks apron, t-shirt, or fridge magnet. Let the rejoicing (and gratuitous holiday shopping) begin!

Everything pictured is available in a variety of colors, so be sure to check out the Cake Wrecks Zazzle Gallery to see all the options. There's also a ladies' "Wreck On" tee and that coveted fridge magnet over there, which I know you won't want to miss. ;)

These are just a few initial offerings, and I'd like to thank Erica Gamet, co-chair of the Denver chapter of InDesign User Group, for creating the "fun & games" apron and t-shirt design. If you'd like to take a crack at designing a shirt for the site, feel free to e-mail me. If I decide to use your design you'll get fame, glory, personal props from yours truly, and a link to your website or blog here on Cake Wrecks. Now that's a reward money can't buy. (Ok, that's a lie. But my personal props are really, really expensive.)

As a bonus, everything you buy before midnight tomorrow (11/20) on Zazzle is 10% off! Just use the code "zazzlepaypal" when you checkout.

Happy Shopping!
